Graffiti Removal

Boston BID has purchased equipment to enable us to remove some of the graffiti that is adorning buildings in the BID area. Whilst the council do not have a formal schedule as to when they will remove graffiti they are not responsible for removing graffiti on private property. Therefore if any BID member would like us to attempt to remove graffiti on their premises please contact the BID Manager for more details.
Mapping Project

The Boston Map and Guide booklet is now available and will be making an appearance in the town. Copies are already held by the Tourist information centre and during the course of the next few weeks additional copies will be delivered to those businesses who expressed an interest in having copies of the maps to sell. We have also made the map available online, although this does not include the guide information included in the map booklet.
Tourist Information Point Boards

The Tourist Information Point boards have been completed and have been returned to their original positions in the town. A new poster has been commissioned and has been rolled out. This gives information on places to visit, useful telephone numbers and has a copy of the 3D map included.
We hope that these boards will prove to be useful to visitors to Boston. In due course we will be changing the information contained in the boards and will be able to use these to promote events that are taking place in Boston.
BEFORE AFTER
Boston BID Crime Reduction Partnership

The Boston BID Crime Reduction Partnership is now up and running and is available to any BID member who wishes to apply. This is a
FREE service and provides members with information on criminal activity and anti-social behaviour that is taking place in the BID area. Members are able to submit reports direct to the site administrator and will receive a weekly newsletter bringing them up to date with recent activity.
The system utilises a secure intranet site which can be accessed from any PC provided the required password is provided. Mug shots of known offenders are available and can be viewed online. The system complies with all the necessary data protection protocols, which means that the information will be accurate and up to date and will be deleted automatically once it is no longer relevant.
A copy of the members user manual is available on this site in the download section. The database can be accessed by clicking on the BCRP Intranet logo on the right hand side of this page.
Retail Loss Prevention Scheme

Boston BID Ltd has joined forces with Retail Loss Prevention Ltd (RLP) to provide independent retailers with the opportunity to take civil recovery action against shoplifters. RLP will only deal with those businesses that operate a full time loss prevention department. However, due to the work undertaken by the BID in connection with the Lincolnshire Police, CCTV unit and the introduction of Town Rangers we are able to act as an umbrella company to access RLP's services.
In short provided a loss has occurred, the perpetrator has been identified and a current address is held claims for all losses, including the cost of time spent in dealing with the incident, can be submitted to RLP who will take the necessary civil recovery action against the individual up to and including obtaining payment. In the event that the CPS decide to issue criminal proceedings this will not affect any civil action being taken.
The scheme operates on a no win, no fee basis. In the event of a successful prosecution RLP will take 50% of monies recovered. It is available to all BID members and should any one wish to make a claim all they need do is contact the BID manager.
The Holidaymakers Guide 2011 - Lincolnshire & East Coast

This publication is produced by Glen Holland Ltd and is distributed throughout Lincolnshire and the East Coast to help holiday makers to plan their activities. As part of our campaign to tempt more visitors to Boston the BID has been involved in providing information about Boston, which has been included in the guide.
To view an interactive version of the guide simply click on the picture and you will be taken to a new internet site.
Knowledge Transfer Partnership
17th January 2011
The Knowledge Transfer Partnership associate, the individual that will be working to promote Boston, has been chosen. There were 6 applicants for the role and interviews were carried out in the run up to Christmas. The successful candidate has to hand in her notice to her present employers and will have a period of induction to complete before starting with Boston BID Ltd.
December 2010
Boston BID has been successful in our application for a Knowledge Transfer Partnership with Lincoln University. The aims of this project are to improve and develop the tourist economy of Boston. Although this is a long term project it will bring substantial benefits to Boston in the form of increased visitor numbers.
The project will link all aspects of tourism from the provision of accomodation to the promotion of events and places of interest in and around Boston. It will also take on the responsibility of promoting Boston both nationally and internationally and will explore and strengthen historical links with America, Australia and the Baltic states.
We anticipate that the university associate will be in post in the first quarter of 2011 and they will be able to hit the ground running as we have several projects and events already on the drawing board.
Boston Christmas Market - 13th December 2010
Boston was fortunate that the weekend chosen for the Christmas Market was bright and cheerful and unlike, Lincoln, Horncastle and Louth our market was not cancelled. The footfall in Boston on the Sunday was the highest level since 2006 and the feedback received from traders and visitors alike was very positive. Santa's Grotto was a runaway success and the reindeer parade through Boston proved to be extremely popular.
Images from the Christmas market can be found at the bottom of the page in the gallery section. You can click on the link to see a larger version of the picture.
The Christmas market has been organised by two individuals for the last 2 years and if any one wishes to volunteer to help organise the 2011 Christmas market they should contact the BID manager.
